Eff you, "Spring Ahead"

I feel great this morning-- like I can take on the world and all obstacles will take one look at my face and cower before me. Brad and I got up at 6:30 and hit the little gym in our building where I used the exercise bike. Normally I hate that thing, and use it as a 5 minute zombie knee warm up before getting on the treadmill. I get bored, restless. This time I read a few blogs on my phone and didn't even notice that the half hour went by. (Honestly, I thought I was only on there for 20 minutes, max, and got very confused when Brad was done on the elliptical.) By the end of that half hour, I had a nice "glow" (fine, I was just shy of a sweaty beast) and had "traveled" 8 miles. Not bad considering I only went down there to keep Brad company, knowing I have zumba tonight.

Anyway, the whole morning went well, so well that I was all chirpy and saying, "I'm so glad we're doing this in the morning!" and "It's so nice that it's bright when we get up-- it makes it much easier."

And then I got to work.

And then I saw the sign on the door-- a friendly reminder decorated with smiling suns and bright flowers-- "Don't forget to set your clocks ahead this weekend!"

And then I swore, loudly and in front of security cameras.

&*@%.

I HATE "Spring Ahead." It takes me weeks to adjust. I can't wake up in the morning and I get exhausted too early at night.  It's like the universe is saying, "You feel great NOW, little one, but just you wait until next Monday. BWAHAHAHA. I AM NO TRIFLING OBSTACLE."

Oh yeah? Well, this year I'm going to kick your butt, Daylight Savings. Jut look like what I did to the yogurt cover that was glued on too tight:

CONQUERED
Fear me.

  1. LOL. I hate Spring forward, and this year I'm totally screwed. Yesterday I had to get up at 4am for work, so I'm already the living dead. Now I'm losing an hour of sleep against my will?? Crying now. Multitudes of naps will be in order.

  2. It's already dark when I get up. I'm looking forward to when it's light enough out after work to run without wearing the extra-reflective orange worker's vest Jerry rigged up for me.

I hear you on rough mornings, but just keep thinking about 8:30pm sunsets on the Decks...
